Grant McDonnal
Hi my name’s Grant. I am a driven and enthusiastic software engineering professional. I am certified as a Solutions Architect and SysOps Admin Associate using AWS. In high school I started learning html and built web pages. In Community College I studied Computer Science and Information Systems. I completed courses in C,C++,Java, SQL and learned OOP, databases and Linux. After my associates I devloped the skills needed to build full-stack web apps. Using the MEAN tech stack such as JavaScript, Node, Express, MongoDB, and Angular. And how to package, build and deploy code. It was fun to learn. But encountering the challenges associated with this process I knew there had to be an alternative. So I started working with AWS. I love the advantages AWS and the cloud provides. Using tools available to solve problems, such as by automating tasks, provisionging recourses in the cloud, improved security and being able to improve process' to save time. I'd like to continue developing my skill set and challenge myself in a role as a DevOps engineer.
This website was completed as part of the cloud resume challenge. Built within AWS. I used a DynamoDB database to store the view count within a table. A lambda function called thru an API gateway end point everytime someone visits the page to increment the count. The site is behind a cloudfront distribution to cache content at endpoints. The website code is stored in an S3 bucket. I am also using github actions to create a ci/cd pipeline to automate building and redeploying the code to my S3 bucket when changes are commited to github.
